Stephanie began teaching piano in 2006, the same year she was accepted into the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in Eastern China. After completing her bachelor's in Music Education and piano (with a 3.84 GPA), she was accepted to the prestigious Eastman School of Music in New York (one of the top three music schools in the United States) where she received the Betty Kanable Scholarship for her continuing study and later achieved her master's in Music Education.
While in New York, Stephanie used her music education skills to teach ages 1-5 in preschool as well as at the Eastman Community Music School. After moving to Southern California, she became a member of the California Music Teacher's Association and taught singing, movement, recorder, and general music in both primary and intermediate public schools. Stephanie was excited to find The Music Place which embraces a philosphy of caring and fun that sets it apart from other music schools.
Stephanie joined The Music Place faculty in 2012 to conduct assessments and teach Early Music Awareness, Piano, Instrument Prep, and Vocal Ensemble.
Specializing in the use of creative tools to make learning fun for kids, Stephanie uses her gentle but creative approach to inspire excellence in ways that are in alignment with the student's own uniqueness and appropriate for their developmental ability. She believes that children do their best when they have the opportunity to use song and play-based learning to prepare for the more difficult journey of playing an instrument. She has a beautiful voice, choral training, and 17+ years of piano education.
